Top 5 Tips For Food Photography

There are many ways to take your food photography to the next level. These tips will help you as you get started shooting food.

  1. Control your shadows. While you are taking pictures of your food make sure you are weary of where the shadows are. You don't want a shadow to be covering up something.

  2. Use a smooth neutral background The main focus of the piece is the food. So you don't want a extravagant background that's gonna take your attention from the food. A nice white background makes things look better without taking control of the eyes.

  3. Shoot from the best angel The angel you shoot at can make all the difference. If your shoot from a low angle, but the plate has a high lip you might miss something. If you have a lot big pieces of food make sure they aren't covering the smaller pieces.

  4. Keep things simple You don’t want to overwhelm the people who look at your picture. So keep things simple and calming. Don’t take up the screen; leave a little breathing room.

  5. DON’T touch the food EVER Moving the plate is okay to get the best angel, but never

touch the food. The stylist in there because he knows what he is doing. If you want to add, move, or remove something ask the stylist to do it.
